Be an Internet Safety Superhero

Hello, young explorers! Today, we’re going on an adventure into the world of the Internet. Just like when we cross the street or when we’re exploring new places, we need to be safe when we surf the web. Let’s learn how to be internet safety superheroes!

What is the Internet?

The Internet is like a giant library that’s full of interesting things to discover—games, videos, and places to learn new stuff! But just like in a big library, we need to know which books are just right for us.

Why Should We Be Safe?

Just like in the real world, there are some areas on the Internet that aren’t safe for kids. Sometimes, people might not be who they say they are, or sometimes we might see things that are confusing or scary. That’s why we need to know the safety rules!

Safety Tip #1 – Keep Personal Information Private

What is personal information? It’s your full name, where you live, your phone number, or where you go to school. What to do: Always ask your mom, dad, or a trusted adult before you share any personal information on the internet.

Safety Tip #2 – Be Kind Online

Remember: The Internet is a place where we meet many people. Always be as kind as you are in the playground. What to do: If someone is mean, tells you something that makes you feel uncomfortable, or asks you for personal information, tell an adult right away.

Safety Tip #3 – Safe Sites and Not-So-Safe Sites

How to know: Websites that are good for kids have games, videos, and learning tools that are just right for your age. Sometimes, pop-ups or ads might try to take you to other sites that aren’t good for kids. What to do: Stay on websites your parents or teachers have said are okay. Never click on strange links or ads.

Safety Tip #4 – Create Super Safe Passwords

What’s a password? It’s a secret code that helps keep your information safe, like a key to your online diary! What to do: Use a mix of letters and numbers in your password, and never share it with anyone except your parents.

Being safe on the Internet is very important! By following these tips, you can be a super internet safety hero. Always remember to talk to your parents or a trusted adult if something online makes you feel uncomfortable or if you’re unsure.
